Photoshoot of the Week: April 13th-19th 2020 – Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R & Merve

At this time of year motorcyclists everywhere usually get ready to break out their bikes for the warm, summer months (and I would do it too if it weren’t for coronavirus).
There are so many fantastic biker routes all across countries that overlook the sea, especially the Mediterranean one, which covers portions of three continents: Europe, Asia, and Africa. The Mediterranean Region offers an ever-changing landscape of high mountains, rocky shores, impenetrable scrub, semi-arid steppes, coastal wetlands, sandy beaches and a myriad islands of various shapes and sizes dotted amidst the clear blue sea. With its azure waters, rocky hillsides and ancient architecture, the Mediterranean coastline is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes and towns in the world, and of course the most beautiful motorcycle routes to ride in the summertime.
Among the many places I might recommend, Istanbul is one of my favourites: the Turkey’s largest and most famous city is a captivating and magical place for visitors, it sits on the crossroads between East and West – the cultural heart of the country. From mid-June until mid-October the summer heat settles permanently there: the hottest months are July and August, the temperature can reach 35 degrees celsius. Anyway summer is also the time of the year in which Istanbul is the quietest: the inhabithants usually spend their holidays in their hometowns or in the many Turkish resorts. The city is emptied of its residents, the traffic declines and it becomes very easy to get around the city, to enjoy the shores of the Bosphorus, the Black Sea or the Marmara, and to breathe some fresh air out of the heat of the city. So Instanbul coasts are the perfect place you can make the most of your time and your gas money, and fill the summer with rides to remember. Perhaps, if you lucky, you can also meet the proud Turkish bikergirl and stunning socialite Merve riding around with her Kawasaki ZX6R, as you can see in her photos below. But after all, I have to admit it will be very difficult to see her: not only she loves riding very fast, but even if she stops by the seaside, her smile surely can dazzle your eyes. So, I guess, we’ll have to console ourself with Instanbul natural wonder…
By the way, due to coronavirus ooutbreak, ferries don’t ride up the Bosphorus, you can actually spot dolphins jumping out of the water. There is nothing so bad that it is not good for something!

Sahilköy Şile

Moda’s seaside

The 2020 Kawasaki ZX6R comes from a long line of successful supersport motorcycles that were introduced to the world in 1995: with a lineage that stretches back nearly 25 years, the ZX-6R Ninja is one of the longest running sportsbikes still currently in production. And when you consider the current state of the inline 4-pot sportsbike market, which is currently only inhabited by a handful of bikes, it’s long life and ongoing success make it all the more an impressive machine. Eleven generations of engineering and evolution have led to the ZX6R having a 636 cc inline 4 engine that produces 127 crank HP and 52 lbs-ft of crank torque. As well, a slightly modified digital fuel injection system sees the model meet both the Euro 4 and Euro 5 emissions regulations.
The ZX6R, like its predecessors, is known for sharp and angular styling as well as highly responsive handling. This continues in 2020 with only minor aesthetic tweaks, otherwise keeping the ABS, traction control, multifunction LCD, suspension geometry, and World SBK derived aluminum frame from the 2019 model year. The KRT Edition, much like the ZX10R KRT, is different only in that it replaces the standard fairings with ones painted in the Kawasaki Racing Team colors with appropriate decals as well. Anyway the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R is available with two new paint schemes overseas for 2020 – Candy Steel Furnace Orange and Lime Green/Ebony.
It should come as no surprise that the ZX-6R features a full complement of rider-assist technology including a quickshifter (up only), slipper clutch, three-mode Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), two-way selectable power mode, and the ABS models are also equipped with Kawasaki Intelligent antilock Braking System (KIBS) as well. Large 310mm rotors and Nissin four-piston calipers provide the braking power and feel riders have come to expect from these modern bikes. More specifically KTRC, Kawasaki´s advanced traction control system provides both enhanced sport riding performance and the peace of mind to negotiate slippery surfaces with confidence. Multiple rider-selectable modes (the number of modes varies by model) offer progressively greater levels of intrusion to suit the riding situation and rider preference.
All of this performance is wrapped in the distinctive, aerodynamic bodywork that features bright, dual LED headlights, and excellent wind protection from its wide windscreen. The ZX-6R is at home on the street or track, which makes it a perfect motorcycle for riders who want a bike that doesn’t cut corners—it carves them.
Summing it up: for those sportbike riders looking for the ultimate middleweight, the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R was designed with you in mind. Kawasaki developed the ZX-6R to be the perfect supersport motorcycle starting with its big-bore 636cc engine that is tucked inside an aluminum perimeter frame that was developed to work perfectly with the Showa Big Piston Fork and Uni-Trak rear suspension. Together this combination provides sharp, responsive handling, excellent feedback, and the power to keep even the most seasoned rider’s adrenaline pumping.
